The normal 1973 7 cent agate stamp is on the left, the black is omitted on both the middle and right stamps and the value and name is missing. The middle stamp was printed on white paper and the right was printed on cream paper.

Very cool indeed. But that appears to be a 1973 stamp, not 1967. So I have to deduct 6 points from the coolness factor -- one point per wrong year.

And I see that the value omitted errors are worth a pretty penny indeed. Nice!

SG 550 - Normal
SG 551a - Value and Agate omitted. (EDit: this is wrong, should be SG 550a -- Eric)

Cheers!
Eric

it seems that the normal copy is worth 7c (aus) more than the other one. Pity.

Maybe you are supposed to be on the "honor" system and write in your own postage amount!

Me bad. 550a is what I meant, not 551a. 550a is worth a pretty penny.

551a is a different stamp.

Good grief.

My 2012 SG catalogue has 550 at .20 cents. and 550a at 95 pounds.

Indeed, maybe it could be Australia's first "Forever" stamp.

D'OhThanks Eric for the correction, it is indeed a 1973 issue, and they are worth a pretty penny, and to find the same error on different paper issues makes these two even more interesting.

I also have the SG 551a Opal, it is quite a rare stamp. At the moment I sent it away to be expertised and issued a certificate of authentication as I do with all my scarce and rare stamps.

The price of a regular 7 cent opal and the black omitted in the SG is about correct.

I also corrected my original entry by changing 1967 to 1973.
