Lockout notice has been suspended (for now.) Mail service continues, but no-one knows for how long. Tossed a letter into the post to Bobggg, to-day. I wonder if it'll ever get there?

Canada Post hasn't cancelled most of the stamps on letters in years. It will probably arrive without markings.

Just the bar code on the bottom.
"Canada Post hasn't cancelled most of the stamps on letters in years. It will probably arrive without markings."
I have a bunch of on-paper unused Canada from envelopes that I know were not entered into the postal system and could therefore be used for postage or considered MNG (assuming that's a designation...)
I've never received or even seen mail from within Canada at work/home absent some evidence of a postmark (not even something with just a bar code nearby). This is weird. Surely Canada Post must have some (invisible?) marking on the stamp to prevent it being reused for postage. And how now would buyers be assured they are receiving something MNG rather than UBNCOOMTIPPU?
I certainly wouldn't want to sell something under (even innocent) "false pretences"!
Cheers, Dave.
P.S. My poker buddy Ted (a highly-politicized pro-union postie) says they are nervous about Canada Post losing parcel delivery (the only growing business segment) permanently to private enterprise who could now cut rates to further increase volume and enhance profitability and CP would be stuck with just letters (shrinking rapidly) thereby ensuring the union's own hastened demise. Thus, the recent greater willingness to talk rather than strike (for now)
However, unions (at least in Canada where we have a massive social support system) have shown a willingness (desire?) to cut off their nose to spite their face. One startling example I recall from a few years ago was a large local employer asking it's workforce (average education Grade 12) to take a $10/hr cut to the $30-35 range in order to stay in Canada. The union refused "on principle" and a few months later the company closed operations and moved offshore. The union rejoiced at their victory ("sticking it to the man!") briefly before realizing The Dole worked out to about $8.50/hour. I understand almost none have found jobs paying even half that in the ensuing five years.
While the postal system is still working, it's currently in slo-mode speed. I used to get my library books delivered every Monday. Then a few weeks ago they would arrive on Monday and Tuesday. So yesterday I went down to get my library books and expected my post lady (delivers packages not letter post) to arrive today. She did - like clockwork, same time as usual. I opened up my library bag and it contains volumes 5, 6 & 7. I guess they'll give her volumes 1 thru 4 at the depot tmw.
I know there are several boxes en route from the US - once this is all resolved (hopefully - especially for my friends who don't know if they are going into work each morning and actually have a job to do), those will arrive.
It's insane for those of us who rely on the postal service for regular deliveries. Our central library put up a notice on their website a few weeks ago saying that as they were not sure what was going to happen, they would be increasing the number of library loans each week and then after everything is resolved they will return to regular loan schedules.
As far as regular post, I haven't seen our postman since early last week.
They are probably back-logged with undelivered mail.
I sent an order up north today. I figured to ship it pronto just in case. The postal clerk who accepted the mailpiece from me stated that Canada Post is crazy!
Well they may be crazy but we've gotta be thankful they don't carry sharpies! Lol
