Thanks Bob for posting this. So, we have a new APS President. The Treasure seems to have been re-elected. I haven't had time to go and check the rest to see which "party" the winners were from. Do any of you have opinions as to how these results may affect the APS and our hobby as a whole?
Regards ... Tim.
Interesting result.
Zias will be paired with a VP board that was generally thought to be paired with the candidate he defeated.
Ken ran a good race, I hope he seeks office again in the future.
The treasurer is new, Tim. He is a trustee of APRL, though, but his term will expire in August.
Bruce Marsden is also Treasurer of the American Helvetia Philatelic Society (Swiss), of which I am a member, and I have dealt with him on a number of occasions. He is a CPA who has dealt with Not for Profits just like APS for many years. I expect him to do an excellent job.
I agree it is a very interesting result. Mick Zais was the one who put forth Scott English's name for the Exec Director position.
I think what the election results say to me is that a number of members are not happy with a number of recent decisions by the Board.
It still irks me that only 10% of the membership voted. I have voted in every election APS has had.
BOB
Most of it I wasn't too concerned about...
...but I was really hoping Alex would get elected!
Ah, well....maybe next time.
"I think what the election results say to me is that a number of members are not happy with a number of recent decisions by the Board."
Alex is a relatively young guy- I fully expect he will be APS President in the not so distant future.
What I am hoping will happen is that the new board gives a longer leash to the Exec Director so he and his staff can manage the everyday business of the APS and not micromanage issues. Bob
