Clever lad!

What other holidays & life cycle events are amenable to a specialized collection that the non-collecting family might enjoy?

Valentine's Day - ONLY IF YOU GET HER A PROPER GIFT, MATE - stamps with hearts (not heart disease), flowers, candy ...

Birthdays - stamps of famous vacation spots - pick one, darling!

Memorial Day & Independence Day - one imagines most nations have one

Labor Day - one might go easy on the Workers' Paradise theme - or not

Graduations - stamps for the anticipated major subject (bridges for the engineers, books for the lit major, cops for the hedge fund wannabes)

New Babies - if you can find them on other than malaria/famine/refugee stamps

Q/ Suggestions? Cautions?

Cheers,

re: Holiday & LifeCycle Topics

GREAT Topic! I've seen some really fabulous collections of Birthday date cancellations. A toughie if you're a leap year February 29th baby.

Valentine's day would probably be fairly easy - the ubiquitous LOVE stamps are everywhere. Love love love, baby! haha

Halloween would be a fun one - how many witches and ghosts could you find on stamps? There have been quite a few paranormal issues in recent years - Canada did quite a few. Even Ireland issued Dracula stamps.

Does anyone here have a collection like any of those? Would love to see them.

Thanks for the kind words, Ikey!

Radio and TV characters/personalities is another area I've been gearing up for. With some of the recent issues of classic to modern radio and TV shows, there's a fairly broad appeal to span the generations.

My wife, being a Star Trek fan, is intrigued by Star Trek stamps. She found out that some (U.S.) are coming out soon and is constantly asking me if they have arrived at the post office. So Star Trek? Not sure it could be a "yearly celebration" type thing, unless you go with the day/year Star Trek first aired on television.

Or how about Festivus?

Cheers,
Eric
