Today, I received an order I placed April 8, from the Uruguay Post online philatelic store, https://www.stamps.uy.post/.

For my classical music topical collection, I got this souvenir sheet honoring Chopin's birth bicentennial . . .

. . . and this set honoring the Youth Orchestra of Uruguay.

I also have a topical collection featuring accordions (and variations thereof) on stamps. Uruguay has put out a number of issues in their Cultural Heritage series, honoring famous accordion/bandoneon players and the tango, which, while usually associated with Argentina, originated in Uruguay with what has become the most well-known tango of all, "La Cumparsita."

What was especially nice about receiving this order was seeing how they franked my package. They used 2 of the issues I ordered, along with a semi-postal issue. Uruguay Post also did a nice job packaging my order, placing the stamps in glassines and sandwiching them between sheets of cardboard. Couldn't ask for better service.

Here is Juan D'Arienzo (shown in the die-cut souvenir sheet, top row center) and his Orchestra in a vintage performance of "La Cumparsita."

Dang it. I destroyed the self-stick semi-postal stamp trying to clean the gunk off, after soaking. At Wits End

Very nice!
Stumbled across this Uruguay stamp (if indeed it is possible to stumble on a stamp).

Uruguay has MANY beautiful stamps, from the Diligencias, Allegoricals, etc. to present time -- thanks Youpiao for the images.

This 1936 stamp is only valued at 11 cents. What a great design!
