Very nice. The 1st pic show Stamp Tax "stamps" (embossed). The 2nd pic shows the cypher seals on the back.
On the cypher seals, the emblem/text indicates the monarch -- e.g., King George IV. The number, I believe, indicates the position on the full sheet of cypher seals.
Don't know much beyond that.
Thank you
I'm sure Nigel, Malcom, Chris... can give you a lot more accurate info on these.
Hi,
I've not much to add to what khj has written.
The piece of metal is a tin staple that ties the revenue stamp to the document.
The cypher seal on the back covers the two ends of the staple.
Thanks ever so much Nigel !
The 1st of these stamps appeared in Queen Anne's reign. An interesting fact is that Rowland Hill chose the size of the penny black from this design.

In my Great Britain album It's hand written #1. Mine is 1&7/8x 1&1/2 in. Three pounds
Hello I came across these at an old antique store in Warwick . The vendor and myself are completely baffled as to what they are .... They have what looks like a silver metal tab embedded . I hope the pictures are clear for you to have a look at. Year 1801 so not a postage stamp obviously they may have something to do with government taxes? ...... I took pictures front and back . Any help would be great!
