This is the next of an ongoing series of bits of information I am trying to track down, to finish writing up items already in albums.

I have 1c tax stamps from 1998 and 2000. I have been able to locate most of the information I need. However I am unable to locate the identity of the printer. 1996 and 1997 stamps were printed by Oriental Press, Bahrain, and these have a similar appearance, and the same perfs.

Can anyone with a Part 1 "Red" Gibbons Commonwealth ( or any other reliable source ) confirm or correct this?

Regrettably my local City library only stocks the "Simplified" Commonwealth catalogue which is about as much use as a chocolate firescreen. Commonwealth post 1970 now requires a set of specialised geographical area catalogues needing a mortgage to purchase. I know very few collectors other than very young children ( who tend not to collect anyway) who use simplified catalogues.

I am not really interested in catalogue value - all these stamps are minimum price anyway.
It annoys me intensely that one has to search in many different places to get the most basic information, and even then is obliged to grovel on chat boards for information that basic searches should be able to unearth.

Hi Malcolm,

I assume you have the details of the obligatory tax issues up to 1990 in SG Part 1 so here are the later ones from SG Cyprus, Gibraltar & Malta (2011):

SG 807a Type 255 - 1c - perf 13½ x 14 - inscribed "2007" - litho Giesecke & Devrient Matsoukis.

SG 892 Type 255 but reduced in size - 1c brownish black and olive-grey (shades) - perf 13½ x 14 inscribed "1995", "1996, "1997", "1998", "1999", "2000" or "2001" - litho Oriental Press, Bahrain.

SG 1157 Type 397 - 2c brownish black and brownish grey - perf 13½ x 14 - inscribed "2008" - litho Giesecke & Devrient Matsoukis.

Nigel

Thank you for that research. That info ( other than my immediate needs) has gone into my little folder (mentally) labelled -

Elusive info. filed for future reference so I don't have to annoy my friends on Stamporama in the future.

I may be taking some time out as I have found a number of ( partial) online resources for worldwide stamps.

Thanks again.
