Sorta looks like an incomplete impression of a fancy cancel 'shamrock' on its side.
....and by the way;
I THOUGHT I posted this under the heading, "Covers and Postmarks"
....that's what I get for thinkin'.....LOL
Maybe the powers that be could move this thread to the proper heading?

I can always count on a chuckle from you two....thanks Vince and David.

Q/ Anybody else think that, whatever the cancel(s), the stamp was cancelled twice?
I was thinking that (forming the "axe"). And it does look like it could be a cork with a missing piece (if you have enough covers from one place and the cancel is distinctive you can see the degradation over the course of a few weeks). Cut cork cancels tended to be short lived.
Looks clearly to me like a Hatchet Head. I always enjoyed Rorsharch.
How about -
Bad Axe, Michigan!!!
Bad Axe, MI. Now there's a blast from the past. Spent the last year and a half of my enlisted time at Port Austin Air Force Station. My most vivid memory? Driving the oderiferous highway to Bad Axe passing all the farms that fertilized with pig manure.
It's all closed down now Ted...... Oscoda, Marquette, PA

Personally, I thought it looked kind of like a hatchet?
