Phil, yes I did, but I was too young and full of beer to really pay much attention to extra-curricular activities in the hobby.
Michael i am glad someone remembers them..i met my wife summer of 65 i don't think i was too active in stamps at the time. By the early 70's i was dabbling..but by then 3 young children took top priority with any income..Fast forward to 1987 and i am attending the Mega shows in NYC..still not much to spend but loved the atmosphere !

When I first heard of the society, I thought it was kind of cool to have something like that in our area. At my age at the time, however, I didn't have the ability to participate in it.
I was only 10 years old when the cover you showed was canceled. Still, I was reading the old "Stamps" magazine. That's where I first read about the society. I don't remember too much about it.
I did an internet search for the society, but didn't come up with anything. The only thing I found was an abandoned bank savings account from 1988. I wonder how much money there was in it. If the society disbanded, they could have at least donated the funds to another society.
i could not find anything on it either !
These guys were just 20 miles down the Taconic Parkway from me. I became active with stamp clubs and shows around 1973 but never heard of them. Michael did you ever hear tell of them ?
