Sure I'll give you a whole dollar for it!!! LOL
I was hoping to find this as one of the freebies in your approval book.
There's a thread over on stampcommunity where folks are sharing the worst stamp in their collection.
The stamp in the ebay link is pristine and unblemished compared to some of the "stamps" there.
Regarding the stamp you linked to, Ernie, I wouldn't buy it, but if it turned up in a mix I'd definitely keep it!

LOL You never know! One of these days I'll sneak in a few great freebies! Did you see the $5 freebie in the last one? Heheh I hide some of them. Makes it more fun when you find it! I'll also put a few in priced super super cheap just for fun. Makes it like a scavenger hunt.
I would be honored to have that stamp in my collection. It is a grizzled veteran of the early postal wars, and has the scars to prove it. And as Mark pointed out it has great clarity compared to some.
One thing about this issue (US #2) I can't get over (yet), aside from the price, is the fact that even the best examples look like Xerox copies. Some day I hope to add #1 and #2 to my collection, but probably not this year.

I would NEVER buy from that seller!
As to whether I would accept that quality in my album, I have a US 12 with the top projection cut off but HUGE margins on the other 3 sides. Two of my Columbians have severe faults. So while that might be pushing it a little for me personally, I could see using a similar stamp. Just not from that seller. It wouldn't surprise me if there were a shill bidder.

I noticed a couple listings on e-bay where the common stamp was totally mangled and they didnt even try to straighten them out and they were torn badly and crumpled and the seller was asking $1.00 for one of them and more for the other one..are people that gullible?
The cancel is extremely suspect, so no.
I must be the biggest dummy here because I would buy that stamp all day long for $50.
The reason why is because I know I could sell it all day long for $100.
The problem is that it's at $125 with 4 days left. I'm just afraid every time I look at it my eyes will go straight to the lower right corner. Gonna take a pass on this one.
Ernie
It finished up at $205, which isn't bad for Scott 2. I do have a Scott 1, so I would've bit on this one.
Could you enjoy and appreciate this stamp? Some times faults are just too much. The worst is acquiring one and never really being able to appreciate it. It's happened to me. Could you put this in your album?
