On the serious side, no, really, the serious side.
Why aren't the sellers on eBay describing the stamps anymore? There have been several sellers I've looked into and when I scroll down to the description, it has all this stuff about who they are, where they've shipped to in the world and nothing about the stamp or lot, the condition or any other information. Am I asking too much for a little bit of information about the stamp? Like this one, HINGED AND PAPER RESIDUE? Would that be too much? Or even the watermark, that would've been something. Or am I not looking in the correct area?

Well strangely enough, I was looking at this feeble offering from big eBay seller (and retail outlet) Rushstamps. This is how they list everything. In this case though, they use the scuddy scrap of paper to describe the printing flaw. The trouble is, that scrap doesn't indicate where the flaw is; not helped by the low res scan:
Sellers like this are just plain lazy and are more concerned about, as purfinn2 put it, who they are and shipping conditions. The first sentence below is always used by this seller, which is neither use nor ornament:

Well, yes, actually, you are.
As eBay has evolved from a stamp auction site to the largest collection of stamp dealer price lists, ever, the very real problem has arisen that, with so little material moving (in percentage terms), the less any dealer can invest in any listing.
About the best you can do is leave a message asking for more detail about a particular lot, and patronize the folks who answer.

Ouch - just the perf damage alone should raise their eyebrow at the selling price. A space filler until a good issue is located, perhaps - but there's nothing there to verify that it actually IS the stamp the seller purports it to be!

Just to chime in here on this discussion about deficiencies in seller item descriptions on other sites, at Stamporama we take a different view of things for the benefit of the buyer.
On Stamporama, the image/photograph is not sufficient. Sellers are required to enter in their description all defects relating to the item being sold even if the defect is visible in the image/photograph.

I guess I'm still old school with the seller describing the state of the stamp instead of relying on what could be a bad scan.
I have an on-line store and I do take the time to describe the stamp.
I also understand eBay has changed it's format, a lot. I still do not understand why a seller can not take one sentence and describe the stamp and then do all the jibber jabber.
