Very sad news - another album closes. He will be missed.
Sad news indeed. He was one of my best buyers, always paid promptly, and bid on some of my esoteric 'junque'.
I thought his absence from SOR was because of the flooding in the area.
Marilyn
Chuck was definitely one of our busiest buyers. As of today he has purchased 71,128 lots. He always paid on time and he LOVED the approvals.
Tim.
How sad. I think there are a couple more long time members who have passed away although I haven't received confirmation from anyone. Emails & messages go unanswered and they haven't been on Stamporama in months. They were always regular, quick paying customers of mine and I've held their outstanding lots since last Spring hoping that they will reappear, but I have this feeling that it won't happen.
A GREAT buyer indeed. May he REST IN PEACE.
Charles will be missed. He was so polite, the few times we e-mailed and I will miss him. When he started buying from me, I phoned my sister Lee to let her know, and she said that she had tried to figure a way to have him as a buyer as well. The two of us laughed about it at the time.
Over the years Charles was a great buyer, and sometimes was bidding on my lots as quick as I posted them. He paid quickly, and always thanked me for the great selection and service. When he stopped bidding, he always sent me an e-mail to let me know and always said he would be back. I hope he had a family.

Sorry to hear of his passing..i must be the exception ..he never purchased a stamp from me..but i know a couple of my seller buddies here must be in mourning !
Yes! very sad! sorry to hear that.
Sad to hear of this. I have known Charles since back in StampWants. Always a very nice and considerate person.
RIP ... you will be missed

Thank you, Bill (pedroguy) for posting the obituary. I hope also that someone will send along to the family some of the tributes which have been posted here.
We are all saddened by the passing of another hobbyist.
Marilyn
I will send the tributes to the family. I will be honored to do that for a very nice and wonderful man.
That's a wonderful idea, Luree. I'm sure the family would be greatly heartened to hear how fondly he is remembered here. If they have an online memories book maybe you could post a link to this thread?

I am so sorry to hear the sad news. Charles was one of my best buyers, too. He cleaned out many of my approval books!!

Is postings like this that bring tears to my eyes, Charles was a great aficionado and will be miss, had so many dealings with him that I considered him family. RIP CP
i have been in my stamp club since 1973..so i have seen so many old timers pass...they would share their knowledge but when they pass so much is lost !!
He does indeed sound like a wonderful man. May he rest in peace.
A great loss to the stamp community, REST IN PEACE , C.P.
Sure going to miss those STAMPORAMA outbid notices.
Sorry to hear this news. I was wondering what may had happened since he always jumped on my clearance approval books and took most of the remainders from me. He last made a purchase from me on December 20 - so he may have never even seen that last large package of stamps that he purchased. Very sad.
I had sold cpconway thousands of lots and we would still bid against each other.

Hi all,
As promised I have sent The Conway Family a Sympathy card with the following letter:
Our deepest sympathy for a passing of a truly wonderful person.
Charlie was very much loved in our stamp community, Stamporama. All of us have a sadden heart and considered him family. He was a great aficionado of stamps and will be dearly missed.
Charlie encouraged Richard Willis to return to stamping after his bypass and again after his cancer. Several of us appreciated his shopping in our Approval Books and prompt payments. As of last week he has purchased 71,128 lots. He always paid on time and he LOVED the approvals.
Charlie was a very polite, nice, considerate person.
We are all saddened by the passing of another hobbyist.
Another album closes.
He will be missed.
From all of Charlies' friends and fellow philatelists at Stamporama. If you need help with anything, please let us know.
I've included my name and address just incase they do need help. As you can see I've taken all that you have said and sort of condensed since we were all saying the same things.
RIP our Friend!
Very nice, Luree.
Just wanted to let y'all know I received a very nice card from the Conway Family.
That's very nice. I'm glad we sent the family the card. Sounds like it meant alot to them.
Ernie
Thank you so much for extending this kindness to the Conway family on behalf of our Stamporama family. Luree - you're a jewel - we're so lucky you joined us here.
Just now found this thread. In early December after buying every lot I had on the board he e-mailed thanking me for all the "quality lots" he had bought from me and that he was taking a break from buying for 6 months or so to work on his collection. (I had often wondered how he had time to work on all he bought). I thanked him for his comment and wished him a good time working on his stamps. After reading his obituary here (thanks for that post) I can see what an active and full life he led with all the right priorities. RIP CP.
Thanks Luree, for doing this on behalf of us all.
Very muxh appreciated.
Tim
I have just found out today that one of our long time members passed away December 28, 2015. Many of you will remember cpconway Charles P. "Chuck" Conway Florissant, Missouri. I have sold stamps to him since 2003. He encouraged me to return to stamping after my bypass and again after my cancer. I for one will really miss him.
