"The EDITION D'OR® series of books, now numbering over 40 different titles, presents prestigious collections which have been awarded International Large Gold medals or the elusive Grand Prix. These volumes were conceived and developed by Corinphila Auktionen and Heinrich Köhler with the intention to make the finest and most famous stamp collections of our time accessible to future generations of collectors. Documenting a collection in an EDITION D'OR book is a tangible and lasting recognition of a philatelist's life work."
I wonder how much it costs to have your collection "immortalized" (something you can do yourself with a scanner or digital camera (maybe even an i-phone, not sure).
As to purchasing the "collections" it appears that the big name auctions do as good a job and you can even get prices realized - and they are cheap, very cheap if a few years old (but just as useful).
Just my two cents

Collections are often broken-up for sale, so there may be a certain coherence that you would not get from one/more auction catalog(s), even if the entire collection were to go to auction.
Philatelic reference books always look expensive next to, say, magazines; but EU 70 is an amount many of us will drop on a single stamp or cover.

Some people are buying them. I note that there are a number of them that are "Out of Stock".
Q/ Anybody buy any of these books? Whadja think?
