Thanks Pedroguy for your response.

Do you know if there is any premium for corner blocks / full sheets etc?

Best wishes,

Brian.

Hi Brian,

No note in the Scott catalog that I have, there might be someone else here that can answer that question, I don't have a Specialized catalog.

Regards....Bill

Yep. At one point, Scott valued common plate blocks as a block of 4 plus one stamp, so 5 times the value of a single stamp. That went away a long time ago.

The self adhesive panes of 20 typically have more stamps which are part of plate blocks than not. The old "water activated" sheets of 50 had 4 or 6 stamps in a PB. Then along came Zip blocks. Then came "Mail Early" blocks. Then, of course, there were the multiple plate blocks of 20 with 8 different plate numbers. I'd say the USPS "devalued" plate blocks and Scott only reflects their marketing strategies.

Don't forget the other slogan blocks of 6, like the Bicentennial ones.

Personally, I'm thrilled with the drop in plate block prices because I can often pick up a plate block and use a plate single as a self-certifying stamp. It was especially useful in properly identifying the rotary press wet/dry printing issues because they used different plate numbers.

Lars,

I do pretty much the same thing.

I don't aggressively go after my mint US as I prefer postally used, but I do grab up the low-priced plate blocks and replace a copy with plate#-attached ones.

Definitely makes the album page look more appealing to me.
