Has anyone considered recreating any of the very informative stamp identification discussions that we had in the Stampwants forums a few years ago—before the forums were changed over to the new system and the images all deleted? I started thinking about this a few weeks ago when I was looking for one of those old discussions.

I looked at the current BidStart forums for restrictions. The pages contain © notice, but the "Terms & Conditions" don't seem to restrict the copying of messages from the forums. These "Terms & Conditions" took effect in September 2012. The older "Terms & Conditions" for Stampwants are no longer available as far as I can tell, but I suppose they were virtually identical to the newer 2012 set.

I've experimented with reconstituting a thread (with the scanned images) I started regarding the Morocco local post stamps. Some of you (Kim, Michael, Nigel and Malcolm and others?) were involved in that discussion. However, I'm reluctant to proceed with what is basically a copy and paste and reformatting procedure without having a better understanding of the old Stampwants restrictions.

Has anyone ever given this any thought? Whether yes or no, I'd appreciate hearing what others think about this idea? Or any alternatives.......

I think that is a good idea to reconstruct older, informative post, if you want to do that. However, you may want to hold off on that idea for a while as the platform that our current system runs on is being orphaned. Our web master is working to convert SOR to a new platform. If you do this now, your work may be lost in the same manner as you cited the last time we had to change platforms.

Oh! Thanks for the heads up, Michael! I hope the SoR conversion can be done without the adverse consequences we experienced at SW.

I've experimented with copying and reformatting my Morocco local posts thread from SW. Actually, there were two threads and I've copied both and re-inserted the original images. Regardless of what happens here with SoR's conversion, I'll have those two threads intact (but reformatted somewhat) and ready to share.

I should try to do the same with a couple of similar threads I initiated at SW before something happens to them.

As I type this, I recall reading about an internet archive service. Was that here on SoR or somewhere else? Has anyone ever tried to find archived SW forum material online?
