Hi all

I am just wondering how many of our members in here started up stamp collecting from another one? What I mean is, I was a collector from a long time ago and when I got my 1st degree black belt in karate I thought of collecting martial arts on stamps (added this topic later). My wife, when I met her, had several aquariums with fresh-water fish. After we married, she asked me if there were fish on stamps? When I answered her with a 'yes', that was it! She started collecting fish and purebred dogs on stamps. (Dogs because we used to breed Tibetan Spaniels. At one time one of only 3 breeders across Canada at the time.)

Has anyone else here in SOR added on a new hobby from an existing one? Hope I worded this message right? Sad

Before I started with stamps, at the age of about 10, I had a collection of cigarette packet fronts and matchbox tops. (Why? Ah, solving that question would bring the priest and the doctor in their long coats running over the fields...)

Then my Dad grew weary of chain-smoking exotic brands and took out his stamp album for me to look at instead.

i didn't come to stamps from another hobby, however my daughter's interest in horses has given me one of the few topicals I now collect, mostly on her behalf

I collect... everything... *Classic Hoarder* but antique documents is what brought me to stamps. Many antique (late 1800s) legal documents have revenue stamps on them which started my interest. Now I'm hooked...
