I wouldn't be opposed to it per se but is there a precedent? I wouldn't want to give the hate mongers who perpetrated that act the satisfaction of causing us to issue a stamp.

Not our style. We don't commemorate death and destruction.
It took fifty years for a Pearl Harbor stamp, and then it's only mentioned as an event as part of the larger war, not as a commemoration of lives lost.

Well... The 2016 New York World Stamp Show issue kinda threw the ball out there. I really would have liked this issue if it would've included a third (white) stamp. To release a pair of vertical stamps for an upcoming New York event was not well thought out. The background is just a white noise/spirograph kind of art, leaving this particular pair of stamps to bring to mind the twin towers and nothing else.
Funny...that was my first thought as well when I saw the vertical style.
Didn't think about the possibility of a 3rd white stamp, though - good point.

For those who haven't seen them yet.-
Those do evoke the twin towers. Was that by accident or design?

The stamp program commemorates positive contributions to American life, history, and culture; therefore, disasters will not be commemorated on U.S. postage stamps or stationery."

Really ?
The only way I can see anything reminiscent of the Trade Towers is if I back away from the screen and squint with my good eye.
No, slide further back.
"Texas Hold'em" stamps ?"
If someone hadn't mentioned 9-11 and suggested a connection I'd never have made any connection at all.
Well, I suppose it is 5:30 AM and I am on my fourth cup of coffee, so perhaps after I nap a little they might impress me as the finest artwork a nation of 325,000,000 can produce.

Now that time has passed and we seem to be looking for worthwhile subjects for US stamp issues, is it time to issue a commemorative stamp in honor of the fallen?
Yes, I know we did a semi-postal, but that was a fund-raiser.
I mean a regular issue stamp to honor the memory of friends and loved ones.
I for one would be for it, but not a 9/11 date of issue.
.....opinions?
