http://www.stampinsider.org
The cover story is “This Cruel War is Over†by Alvin O. Sabo explores events that led to Victory in Europe (VE) and Victory in Japan (VJ) days. A specialist in World War II patriotic covers, he illustrates his article with covers and postcards. In a related article, Steve Davis writes about “VJ Day in Tokyo Bay September 2, 1945†in his Via Airmail column, focusing on use of the US six-cent transport airmail stamp (C25) that was valid on mail sent through army and fleet post offices.
Steve Swain has written an illustrated how-to article — “Creating Successful PowerPoint Presentations†— showing easy step-by-step instructions to create eye-catching philatelic programs. He plans to follow up with an instructional PowerPoint presentation that will be posted on the Virtual Programs section in November. One of his presentations — “Postal Systems and the Public React to the American Civil War†— is already posted on the site.
A new virtual program — “All Aboard: the All Aboard stamp issue of 1999†— has been added. PDF and PageFlip versions were generated from scans. The exhibit was by the late Norman E. Wright, Sr., of the Rochester Philatelic Association.
The featured video is an instructional film by Encyclopedia Brittanica Films to show children the daily activities of city and rural mail carriers in 1946.
