They need small post offices here and there to accommodate some small minded postal clerks.
Armstrong, Texas, has a population of 0, by the way. The post office is the only thing there.
That is one tiny place. Thanks for posting the link - almost belongs in the "must be seen to be believed" category. Hard to imagine how the cost to keep it open can be justified.
My small post office has had a major setback in service. The wonderful woman who ran it was seriously hurt in a car accident and off for about 6 months. When she returned, things had changed: several new rules, the worst of which is that she couldn't order her own stamp inventory anymore. Now we have to take what the closest, slightly larger post office in the next town feels like sending (when they feel like sending anything at all).
She was unable to continue working and now we have new people filling in. Very few stamps available and no new releases. I am wondering how long before they close it completely.......
Here's one I came across right off Route 80 headed from Salt Lake City towards Wyoming. It was Sunday so it was closed.
Here's an interesting link about a very small post office in Armstrong, Texas. I have passed this office for decades. With its very limited hours, it is not easy to get to during business hours if you don't live in the area. My latest pass-by was just this past Sunday.
