There was a small crowd at the stamp club last night..vacations and all..but that worked out fine for the folks that attended....there were about 30 stamp collections at auction and i picked up a album of Sri Lanka with about 500 stamps for 12 bucks ! Did i need a Sri Lanka collection ? Probably not but i am a stamp collector and when i see stamps that i wonder "how did the person get these postally used?" its hard to restrain myself. Another album on the shelf with the easier stamps filled in and the harder ones to go.

Phil:

You are a true stamp collector!

I'll keep an eye out for Sri Lanka for you. Did the album also include Ceylon?

There are those times where our automatic reflex is to reach for the wallet and think about it later on! I have zero interest in that corner of the world, but for twelve bucks! Happy

That Sri Lanka lot sounds like some sweet deal. It's somewhat unusual country to come by. I just started working with Ceylon + Sri Lanka section of my world collection, and will likely continue with it over the weekend. Some very nice stamps designs in there.

Thank You Scb, we were wondering at our club where our future material was going to come from as we were running dry..and just then another door opened..a man with much material is letting us auction off his collections to our members at a 75/25 split...he gets 75 percent of the sale and we get 25 percent just for putting them on the tables and letting the members pick !!

I neglected one very important fact ...its fairly easy money for the club...but part of the deal is that we have to catalog the collections prior to auction..one of our members does a superhuman job !
