Interesting...
rough perfs are reminiscent of early Central American issues as well.

Antonio, it might have been a bit of a stretch..but when i saw these in a dealers stockbook i decided to add them to my back of the book Guatemala collection.
Hi smauggie;
Hey those are nice stamps, thanks for showing us. They may have felt that giving them the UPU
approved colors, might lead collectors to consider them as real stamps instead of Cinderellas.
Just chillin'

Randy: It does seem that expense was spared in the production of these stamps.
Phil: I have seen that overprint before. I wonder if it isn't some aftermarket addition to the stamp.
Cheers,
Antonio
Nice to see the set and read the history about these.
I just have the 50-cent in my collection.

Very nice set, I want them. But I'll just have to settle or the originals.
It was a good time for steamships - this is a mix of real, forgery & bogus
Wow ! i can not imagine buying 2 million of the same stamp...better have a lot of customers !
These were produced by a private company (perhaps with the intent to use them for the purpose noted on the stamp. A total of two million stamps were issued}. This set is missing one of the stamps (I suspect a five cent value).
All stamps were purchased as a lot by a California stamp dealer and were parceled off initially at $5 a set.
The stamps themselves belong to a friend of mine who loaned them to me for study. I thought I would share them with you.
I think its interesting that the stamps match the UPU color codes for the values.
