Now I am seeking a confederate envelope to add to my collection....Most I see are reproductions and others out of my budget...any thoughts

Confederate covers generally start at about $250 & go up quickly.
LOTS of fakes and reproductions.
Probably one of the best sites for these is TRISH KAUFMANN. She sells quality & has hundreds for sale.
There is a tremendous amount of info on confederate stamps on her site.

If you are going to wade very deep into Confederate stuff I would recommend getting a copy of August Dietz' book. I think my copy is from 1959. They can be a bit pricey, but if you are patient there will be SOMEONE list it for a low price and you can grab it.
