"I've been misquoted, quote un-quote" an autobiography
Here's an article from Linn's about the additional forever stamps:
http://www.linns.com/news/postal-news/1684/Commission-OKs-adding-new-forever-stamps
I bumped this up as there was an inquiry about the new service specific forever stamps that will begin being issued by the USPS with the May 31, 2015 postage rate increases as approved by the Postal Board of Governors.
Here is a link to the Linn's article on the coming rate changes, and pictures of the new stamps:

Break out the piggy banks. We'll have a bunch of new stamps to buy next week.
I like them all except the four coastal birds. They're downright ugly.
I find the US goes one way or the other with the animals on stamps. Either really pretty or lacking in taste. Canada and UK generally are very pretty when it comes to animals. IMHO
The earlier planned increase in certain US postage rates did not happen. Now, however, the Postal Regulatory Commission has approved 2 changes (as reported in the news May 21st).
Effective May 31, 2015, the second ounce rate will be 22 cents and the postcard rate will be 35 cents - a one cent increase for both.
So your greeting cards will need to be sent for 71 cents instead of 70 cents.
also higher non-standard surcharge and, for you postal history collectors, a higher meter first ounce rate, up from 48c to 48.5c, which will, of course, up all subsequent steps.
I need to stop by and check out the discussions more often. I had no idea these changes were in the works!
Looks like the USA is going the way of several European countries with issuance of forever stamps for various postage classes.
If approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission (looks like it will), it will take effect April 26.
New forever stamps would be issued for the following:
- post card rate
- 2 ounce letter
- 3 ounce letter
- additional ounce letter
- first ounce non-machinable
Following the UK, forever stamps will include a non-value indicator for the postage service class.
