I'm sorry. I looked at my 2005 version of the Precancel Stamp Society Catalog and nothing new to report there, either.
Pat, isn't the original postmark 1913 or 1915? The first experimental Bureau Precancels were 1916, so this would have been a local precancel. It looks like perf 10 from here, and if so it would be Scott J53 (perf 10 single wmk). Scott J60 (perf 10 unwmk) wasn't issued until 1916.

Lars,
That helps. I have the book on local precancels also, but I could not find this in there either. That book is also from 1982, so maybe someone has newer information.
Pat
A quick glance at the Hoover Precancel Catalog, Vol 1 (1844-1920) 1940 edition shows quite a few postage due pre-cancels of the 1914 printings, but I am not familiar enough to decipher all the listings of Cincinnati,Ohio.
I don't have a local precancel book because I only collect National Precancels (which is a small subset of Bureau precancels), but I doubt you need anything newer than what you have to ID it. Hopefully someone more familiar with local precancels will spot this and help you out. If the perf on the stamp measures 10 and the date on the cancel is 1915, it HAS to be a J53. That's all I can tell you. Sorry.

Hi, I bought this cover because I like early Australian covers. After I got it I was curious about the pre-cancelled postage due stamp. I have an older version (1982)of the Precancel Society's book to identify precancels. I can't find the postage dues in the book with the exception of the early experimentals. Can anyone give me more information?
Thank You,
Pat
