Thanks, Bob, for the information! I am a Channel Islands collector, and the WWII occupation issues intrigue me.
Apart from the GR on the 3d value, do any of the other stamps in the Jersey set contain hidden messages of loyalty?
As far as I know, the second set of Jersey occupation stamps does not contain any other "hidden" messages. The first Jersey occupation set and the only Guernsey occupation set do contain tiny initials in the corners of the stamps designed to insult the Germans and Italians in one case, and to express the hope for an Allied victory in the other case.
I have recently completed four web pages about the occupation of the Channel Islands, and have two others in the works. Here's the link to the index page for The Channel Islands at war.

Here's yet another bogus offer on eBay:
Although the German occupation force in Jersey attempted to overprint existing stocks of Great Britain KGVI stamps (all values except for the 1d), complaints from the island's civil authorities resulted in Berlin squashing the idea. A couple of sets of essays were produced, and remain in private collections. No Edward VII stamps were considered for overprinting, and in fact were probably not in use in the Channel Islands, at least according to what I have read.
In short, if you are offered an overprinted Jersey stamp, it's bogus. The only stamps used on Jersey during the war were KGVI definitives, some of the 1940 Postage Stamp Centenary issues, and two sets of occupation stamps:
These are tidbits that I've learned from working on my Channel Islands occupation web page. Another important fact: If you see a wartime cover posted from the Channel Islands to Germany and franked with British stamps, it ain't real. Such covers were never posted, and in fact are probably being manufactured today.
