I think Roy is correct, David. Happens all the time to me. I am so OCD that often when I read my own post, I see a grammar error, spelling error, or some other obscure reason to edit it. And every time I edit it, it shows another reply. Also, sometimes a person will start composing a response, and maybe actually post it, then change his/her mind and delete it. This will register as a reply even though it is not there.
It also adds a number when Bobby or I activate a link because we re-submit the post.

Each time a response is edited, the counter on the topics page is incremented. It's just an idiosyncrasy of the software. Chances are, you or the other poster edited your replies a couple of times.
