How much time did you allow for a response?
There really isn't a way I can think of to tell if someone is an active member. Could be that a good portion of the members you contacted are not active.
Check when the member was last online. If they haven't checked in for two years chances are that they are not actively collecting at this time. Also - try sending to both their email addresses AND Stamporama message center. You can tell if a member has read a message here by checking your "sent" messages. If they are still highlighted, the member hasn't read the message.
That said, anyone who doesn't have the courtesy to reply is certainly NOT someone you want to trade with! Think of this as a screening process and turn a lemon into lemonade.
Hi Everyone;
Can anyone tell me how to view my sent messages. When I go to "members" area and click on view
messages, the next screen has only two buttons. One is; "Display Received Messages" and
"Send A Message". No button for display sent messages! Am I crazy or what. My mother had me
tested and said I was not crazy! Just different!

Click on the "Home" tab on the menu bar. Under "Member Messages" you have 3 choices of what to view.
Thanks, Bobby--I was wondering this myself. Never noticed that, thanks for the tip!

@stampguy11: There are folk on Stamporama who go weeks (sometime longer) and do not check their messages. There are also a lot of folk who joined, filled out their profile, then logged off never to be seen again. I would check the member profile and note the "last accessed" section toward the bottom. If they have not accessed the board in the past week or so, I wouldn't bother.
Thanks Theresa, great tip!
thanks to all who replied! Good info.
Stampguy11 i will sometimes send out a message to a new member or someone that might have similar interests(in my mind) if i do not get a response i figure they are not interested ..but then i am here a while and am getting used to the dynamics !
I am a new member to Stamporama. I sent out 25 messages to people offering to trade over two weeks ago. This was not just a shotgun message, it was only sent to people who appeared to be interested in the same things I am. Only 3 people even had the courtesy to reply! What's up with that? Is that the norm for this group? What has been your experience?
