Nice, Peter! I've started collecting cancels and I find this quite interesting and informative. Thanks for sharing.
Steve
I put together my first exhibit! It was for a local group and I did a PowerPoint presentation. The exhibit featured China stamps with various cancels that I found interesting. In the spirit of sharing our collecting areas, I thought I'd share some of these here.
The first set are paquebot (ship board) cancels.
Next, Hong Kong cancels on a China stamp and on a Macau stamp.
Third, cancels from Minhow/Foochow and Swatow, treaty ports.
Last, Shameen cancel. Shameen was a district in the Canton area, where foreign offices and businesses housed their families and clients. My mother's family lived in Shameen for a while in the 1930s to just before WW-II.
There were also Canton and Shanghai cancels, but I'll spare you those.
Cheers,
Peter
