I'll never join SA. I'm too addicted. There's no hope for me after 52 years of collecting. I realize that, so I just drink a bottle of tequilla whenever I am finished working on the stamps. It brings me back down from the euphoria of philately. Of course I need to join AA too, but that's another story.

I don't think any stamp collection ever brought about the end of a relationship. Relationships end because:
• One partner or both partners cannot accept changes in the person they agreed to live with, or
• One partner or both partners were not been completely truthful in revealing themselves to the other; when the truth comes out, it permanently and perhaps fatally undermines the relationship. Full disclosure before "tying the knot" might have prevented the relationship from ever occurring, to everyone's benefit.

P.S. It's very important to match your drinking to your stamp collecting. Worldwide collectors must have multicultural livers.
• Tequila should be consumed only after working with stamps of Mexico.
• If Japanese stamps are involved, the beverage of choice is sake.
• French philately requires a good Bordeaux; scoring big on eBay requires Champagne.
• If you collect German stamps, the drink of choice is Lowenbrau.
• Spanish stamps? Sherry.
• Netherlands stamps? Heineken or Advocaat.
• Australia? Hardy's Stamp of Australia Cabernet-Sauvignon.
• China? Tsingtao beer.
• Great Britain? Bombardier porter.
• Italy? Chianti.
• Greece? Retsina (I love the turpentine flavour. Seriously!).
• Canada? Well, you should never drink anything but Canadian wine or beer.
• The U.S.? Treat yourself: Go to Canada, and buy any Canadian wine or beer, even if you only collect other countries!
• When you have problems with eBay, drink any or all of the above in excess.

Tequila???!!! I am ashamed of you Michael. Living in Texas and forsaking the true "wine" of dissolution (Mescal) for the civilized, cultured beverage of the classless! After all, with Tequila where are you when you finish the bottle? Alone with an empty bottle and not even a worm to tide you over 'til breakfast.

Cocollectibles suggested that I drink Butterfly Kiss red wine. But that means I'd have to collect butterfly topicals! How do I start?

Like the cool hat. Makes you look like your on an expensive vacation to an exotic locale.
As for butterflies, how about a net?

Don't forget if you collect Kenya it must be Tusker Beer, it is quite good, even when warm!
Also it can double for collectors of elephants on stamps.
If you collect Greek stamps I think your spouse should be a belly dancer, and drink of choice
Metaxa. It can double as a drink for collectors of Space themed stamps, as it was the first
liquor consumed in space.
When I'm sorting Great Britain, I prefer Beefeater Gin.
German stamps go very well with Liebfraumilch from Black Cat, or Pauly Girl, and of course
a side of wienerschnitzel.
When sorting Irish stamps it has to be Stout, thick and brown.
Keep on stampin' and chuggin'...

Now Bobby, I do partake of the nectar of the maguey plant. However, like all fine "wine" no matter its origin vintage, one must not imbibe regularly of the nectar less one takes the risk of it becoming nothing special akin to the lowly Thunderbird variety.

Well, it was an exotic locale! The Guilford Street entrance to the famous Sylvia Hotel, just a few blocks from my apartment. I am exotic. I live in Vancouver's West End. Ergo, it is an exotic locale! Actually, I don't really like that hat. Now take my "Alberta cowboy-style" black Tilley hat, which in a very un-Canadian manner is called a "Montana" hat. Anyway, I've had old ladies, bus drivers, and street people compliment me on that hat! Seriously! I feel like I'm depriving Vancouverites of a wonderful experience if I don't wear it! This picture shows my hat, but that guy isn't me (I'm much better looking!).

I think that someone should start this.Those little bits of paper wrecked two of my Marriages and nearly made me kill a Burglar 4 Years ago.I know of at least three other men whose Marriage got wrecked because of them.
