have a r112 that looks like it has a grill but see none that are listed in Scotts with a grill or is it a cancel any info is appreciated,Steve

I believe it's a seal to "Cancel" it - I've seen that on old checks a lot. They operate much like a notary seal and were designed to prevent reuse,

It's what's known as a waffle cancel.
