Youpiao:

You probably even use the correct plural of "opus".

What is needed to close this thread with a flourish, "youpiao", is for you to
conduct Haydn's Symphony no.45 in F-sharp.

Here is a wonderful music history lesson from Peter Ustinov, about this symphony by Haydn. Seek it out, here:

Sunday school class was singing "Jesus loves Me". The class was singing it very slow, teacher said, "pep it up, pep it up! The class sings it a little faster. The teacher
says; "pep it up, pep it up". The class then sings: "He loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!"

I was at the grocery store a few years ago when they were selling classical CDs where you buy a different one each week and was joking with a friend who worked there. I told him I did not want the CD because it might be baroque and he said in that case you can bring it Bach.

re: Classical Music Humor (redirect from German Wilhelm Weigel . . .)

I turned on the TV the other night to catch the final movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra on PBS, only to tune in to a scene of utter chaos: The orchestra was completely out of time with the conductor, who had no music in front of him,and the string bass section looked like a rowdy bunch of drunken sailors. I couldn't figure out what was going on, until the announcer cut in with, "It's the last of the ninth, there's no score, and the basses are loaded."

Unleash the dogs of war!

Knock, knock.

Who's there?

Donna.

Donna who?

"Donna let the stars get in your eyes,
donna let the moon break your heart."

Thought I had a sense of humour but this thread indicates otherwise.

This is a HYSTERICAL THREAD!Rolling On The Floor Laughing

Never even thought of the Shostakovich/Harry Potter connection. WOW!

And I heard the "Sam and Janet Evening" joke before..from classical humorist Peter Schickele and PDQ Bach. ("PDQ Bach on the Air" is a classic CD)

I apologise in advance for this offering:

1) What do you get when you drop a piano down a mineshaft?

A flat minor.

2) What do you get when you drop a piano on an army base?

A flat major.

well, say. how about music related. Everybody knows Kenny Rogers. He had a concert scheduled and was on his way to it, when a front wheel came off his car. What did he say? "You picked a fine time to leave me, loose wheel!"Rolling On The Floor Laughing

Did you hear about the vampire who tortured his victims by playing so much classical music that they would gladly offer themselves up to be his next meal just to get away from it?

His Bach was worse than his bite.
